Meet at Marlow station for a 10.05am start. The train from Maidenhead arrives at 10.01am. If coming from Reading, please take the 9.18am departure and change at Maidenhead (arr 9.32am dep 9.38am). If the train is delayed I shall delay the start of the walk.

If coming by car, the nearest parking is at Pound Street car park. SL7 2AQ. This is a 10min walk from the station. It is a pay and display car park costing £3 for 6 hours of £5.50 for 12 hours.

We start the walk following the scenic Thames path national trail west towards Henley. As we make our way along we will pass Temple lock which was first built back in 1782 and is still doing a vital job for the many river craft that use the Thames today. As we carry on along we shall pass through the village of Aston before getting to Hambleden lock, we shall stop here to eat our sandwiches whilst having an opportunity to watch the boats pass by and hopefully the sun glistening on the water. (if its out!)

From there we cross the river and head north leaving the Thames behind and carry on up to pass the village of Hambleden and pick up the Shakespeare’s way. This then forms part of the Chiltern Way which is a walking route that follows the circumference of the Chilterns taking in the best parts and covering 134 miles!.

We then walk through the beautiful village of Bovingdon Green, which although only a mile or so from the hustle and bustle of Marlow feels like its still set many years ago when things moved at a slower pace! For the final stage of our walk we drop down the hill back in to Marlow itself, from there we can catch the train back or have a quick well deserved drink at one of the pubs or indeed coffee shops.

Please bring a pack lunch and plenty of water.

Estimated finish time will be around 3.30pm

Look forward to seeing you there.

For those that don’t have a Railcard, we will try to travel in groups of 3-9 to take advantage of the GroupSave discount – if you wish to do this please meet at 8:50am prompt outside the Three Guineas pub and carry some change. The discounted ticket will cost around £6.15 (full price £9.30).

This walk is part of National Young Ramblers 2018. However, we would be delighted to welcome all people on this walk, whether you are attending our event or not.
