Walk

moderate Views Walk

Meet at Pangbourne Station car park. The walk is timed to meet the 10:46 train from Reading which will arrive at Pangbourne at 10:54. This is the first train of the day due to engineering works. Parking is also available in Pangbourne, where charges may apply.

The walk will take us high above the Thames and through the BBOWT nature reserve of Lower Hartslock Wood where we will have some fantastic views of the Thames.

We will then stop for lunch near Coombe End Farm before following the Chiltern Way to Path Hill.

The walk will then take us to Boze Down, where we will see plenty of alpacas before heading back to Pangbourne.

The pub stop will be at the recently refurbished Greyhound in Whitchurch, or there’s the opportunity for tea and cake in Pangbourne.

This walk is rather steep and hilly in places as it’s on the edge of the Chilterns.

Please bring a packed lunch and plenty to drink.

Booking onto a walk

Most walks do not require advance booking, and you can just turn up on the day. We encourage those comfortable with Meetup to indicate there that you plan to come though, so that others can see there will be plenty of people there – this really helps to encourage new members to come along.

Pace Guide

Gentle: led at a gentle pace with regular short breaks for water or rest. Should be suitable for anyone capable of the distance. (Expect 2–2.5 mph.)
Medium: led at an intermediate pace with fewer breaks but still suitable for most walkers. (Expect 2.5–3 mph.)
Fast: led at a quick pace with minimal breaks. May be a challenge for those with less fitness. (Expect 3 mph+.)

Speeds quoted are only a rough guide, including time spent on short water/rest stops and negotiating stiles/gates/roads etc. but not that spent on longer lunch or pub stops.
