Meet at Theale station at 12pm, after the arrival of the 11.48am train from Reading. The walk leader intends to be on this train; if the train is delayed the start of the walk will be as well. This is a linear walk, so if you are using the train, please buy a return to Midgham. Parking (charges apply) is available at Theale.
The first half of this walk is along the towpath of the Kennet and Avon Canal, as far as Aldermaston Wharf and lunch. After that, it’s all change as we move away from the canal to Aldermaston village, past Brimpton Airfield and back down to the Rowbarge ahead of the social. Midgham station is a very short walk from the pub.
Please bring a packed lunch and plenty to drink. The tea shop at Aldermaston Wharf would provide an alternative to a packed lunch.
