Pace: medium.

Walk details

We head through the market town of Wallingford, a place that was home to Agatha Christie for 40 years, passing the southern edge of Kinecroft Park. Here is home to the annual Bunkfest, which some of us visited a couple of times in recent years, as well as a very well organized (and lengthy) bonfire and fireworks display. The walk leader attended the event this year and can very much recommend it.

Our route out takes us past a number of playing fields where you may see folk keeping active by partaking in a game of football or rugby. Taking care crossing the A4130 we soon hit the countryside and head towards South Moreton on mainly grassy paths. At South Moreton we hope to pay a visit to The Crown public house. Now a community run pub it has won South Oxon’s CAMRA pub of the year and having sampled an ale on the recce, I can see why. It is also dog friendly.

We head back retracing our footsteps for a short while before returning to Wallingford via Mackney. The fields here were a little muddy that otherwise makes an “easy” walk slightly tougher underfoot. As a result please ensure you wear suitable footwear for such conditions.
