Meet at Maidenhead station upon arrival of the 10:33 from Reading at 10:47. If this train is delayed then the start of the walk will also be delayed. If driving, please park at Twyford station (charges apply) so you can pick your car up at the end of the walk.

We will start with a short section of road walking along Shoppenhangers Road before crossing the A404 and into Ockwells Park. We will then pass through the park alongside Little Thrift Wood before heading into Great Thrift Wood and towards Heywood Farm. We will then pass our first church of the day before arriving in our first Waltham village, White Waltham, where we will have our lunch stop.

This will be swiftly followed by our first pub stop of the day at the Beehive, with a nice range of lagers, ales and ciders on offer. We will then head over the cricket green and through the picturesque Shottesbrooke Park, passing our second church along the way. Another short section of road walking follows before we arrive at our second Waltham village and pub, the Bell at Waltham St Lawrence, with another impressive range of beers and ciders on offer.

The final section of the walk will take us through some long fields, with two formerly part of Ruscombe Lake until it was drained in the 1820s and along the edge of Stanlake Park before arriving in Twyford where we will meander to the station there. For those who would like to, there will be a third pub stop at the Duke of Wellington in the centre of Twyford and potentially a fourth at either Waggon & Horses or the Golden Cross.

Please bring a packed lunch and plenty to drink.

NOTE: This is a linear walk
