Meet at Wargrave train station for an 11.20am start. The 10.55 departure from Reading arrives at Wargrave at 11.19am. This involves a change of train at Twyford (arr 11:00, dep 11:15). The walk leader will join this train at Twyford so if the train is late the walk will also be delayed. Parking is available at the station (charges may apply).

If you’re new to the group this walk is an ideal opportunity to join us for your first stroll so come along and meet us. We will start by heading through the village of Wargrave, before joining footpaths through the countryside towards Crazies Hill. After a brief stop for lunch we will return to our start point on this circular walk through pleasant woodland. There are a few short hills on this walk, but the pace will be leisurely so don’t let this put you off! The footpaths and bridleways may potentially be muddy so please wear suitable footwear. Please bring a packed lunch and something to drink. There will be an optional pub stop in Wargrave at the end of the walk.

Booking onto a walk

Most walks do not require advance booking, and you can just turn up on the day. We encourage those comfortable with Meetup to indicate there that you plan to come though, so that others can see there will be plenty of people there – this really helps to encourage new members to come along.

Pace Guide

Gentle: led at a gentle pace with regular short breaks for water or rest. Should be suitable for anyone capable of the distance. (Expect 2–2.5 mph.)
Medium: led at an intermediate pace with fewer breaks but still suitable for most walkers. (Expect 2.5–3 mph.)
Fast: led at a quick pace with minimal breaks. May be a challenge for those with less fitness. (Expect 3 mph+.)

Speeds quoted are only a rough guide, including time spent on short water/rest stops and negotiating stiles/gates/roads etc. but not that spent on longer lunch or pub stops.
