Meeting in the village near to the ‘Wookey Hub’ this delightful hike explores extensively the area to North and West of historic Wells.

A steep hill greets us fairly early on, starting on tarmac before we ascend further over grassed fields. We will stop to observe the views which will include Glastonbury Tor, a feature that dominates the skyline for much of the day.

The hike takes us to Ebbor Gorge Nature Reserve where we will pause for the prerequisite photo opportunity. A sharp descent through the woods takes us to the bottom where we may be rewarded with mud so progress could be slow for a bit.

We arrive at Wookey Hole where we may stop for refreshments if desired. Passing the village we head to Wells itself. The path does turn from soft to hard tarmac for a while. We will no doubt stop and enjoy Wells Cathedral. Cameras at the ready! We will leave the city behind and conclude the day over a mixture of soft and hard surfaces with the Tor towering down upon us in the distance. If available possible drink stop at end of walk.

Please bring plenty of snacks, water etc.

This walk in itself is not as challenging as Saturday’s but you will feel leg weary so please bear in mind if you are planning to drive home straight afterwards.

This walk is part of our weekend away to Wells
