News from our December Committee Meeting

What happens in committee meetings stays in committee meetings… Or well, not. I mean, we are here to run the group for you, so maybe it’s time we started sharing with you what goes on when we meet up.

I won’t bore you with the ins and outs of the discussions, but here are your main take aways from our December meeting:

  • You don’t have to be on the committee to help out.
Join the committee for a drink on Friday 19th January, and share your ideas and thoughts on the group. Details TBC.
  • There will be some awesome trips away next year.
Zak, our walks coordinator, informed us that we have volunteers offering to lead trips to Pembrokeshire, Scotland AND the Lake District next year.
  • We are getting a new website.
Will, our new website manager is already making progress on this. We’ve also got tech-savvy Chris on the committee to help now too.
  • We have some amazing volunteers.
Jason, long-standing ex-committee member and walk leader extraordinaire, was presented with a certificate and fancy Ramblers badge at the Berkshire Area AGM. We have some nice BW prizes to give away to the winners of this year’s walking awards too!
  • The Ramblers App might work soon.
Grant, our chair, has been talking to our Ramblers regional coordinator Nicky and fighting to get Ramblers Head Office to fix it. He’s also chosen to take on even more responsibility and become the Berkshire Area Secretary.
  • Our budget is in safe hands.
Money goes in and out the bank account. Paul, our new treasurer, knows all about that now.
  • Georgia and Zak have both moved house.
I’m not sure you technically needed to know this, but we enjoyed the virtual tours they gave us.
  • We’ve tested the pubs for the Christmas pub crawl. All of them.
Chairman Grant did a very thorough recce for our Christmas pub crawl, whilst our social secretary Andrew has been busy organising the upcoming Christmas meal.

And that’s it! See some of you on Saturday!
